Abstract : This study aimed to revitalize the declining old downtown, investigating key issues related to the Old downtown and landscape through big data analysis. Using the big data analysis platform ‘TEXTOM’, TF-IDF and CONCOR analyses were conducted on the topics of old downtown and landscapes, utilizing web document data collectedNaver(news, web documents, academic information), Daum(news, web documents), and Google(web documents). The TF-IDF analysis revealed that keywords related to regional and local government names, in addition to local announcements, overwhelmingly ranked at the top. In addition, keywords associated with regional development plans and activities such as ‘establishment’, ‘promotion’, and ‘activation’, as well as terms emphasizing the importance of community involvement and education among local residents like ‘residents’, ‘culture’, ‘participation’, and ‘education’ were also identified. The CONCOR analysis revealed four clusters of word groups related to downtown projects, locality, residents and culture, and improvement. Through this, efforts by local governments to support sustainable development in old downtown were confirmed, including infrastructure provision, civic engagement, and enhancement of cultural programs. The conclusion of this study is that there is a deficiency in keywords related to connectivity, safety, and nature in old downtown landscape planning. Therefore, it recommends addressing these aspects in old downtown landscape planning to improve overall effectiveness.

Seong Eun Ahn, Cathy Yeonchoo Lee | JNCIST 13(2) 159-171

Abstract : This study was conducted to propose directions for the development of user experiences in the emerging field of social curation services. Social curation services are newly proposed platforms aimed at fulfilling users' expectations and needs in response to issues such as information overload and low filtering levels in traditional social network services. The research analyzed the current system of social curation services by deriving a research model based on Nathan Shedroff's experience design model, and conducted a survey evaluation of Instagram's social curation service, focusing on ‘hashtags’. The study found low satisfaction levels in the aspects of ‘responsiveness’, allowing user participation in information, and ‘information structuring’, which represents the outcome of user engagement. To move closer to the form of high-intensity curation, social curation services need to enhance user empowerment throughout the processes of information collection, production, and distribution. It is hoped that this research will contribute as a valuable resource for strategizing and developing social curation services with a focus on user experience.

Go-Myeong Kim, Seung In Kim | JNCIST 13(2) 187-199

Abstract : As OTT services evolve and devices become more diverse, users can now watch nearly limitless content across time and space. Moreover, content is also personalized with a recommendation system that lets users watch the content they like on the device of their choice, wherever they want. As video consumption evolves, people are moving awaythe traditional way of gathering in the living room to watch TV together. Instead, they are individually watching the same video in an increasingly variety of ways, such as the fast play option for watching shorterlonger videos. This is not just impacting the amount of time users spend consuming media, it's changing the way they live. In this changing environment, the study measured four factors related to the trend among people in their 20s and 30s: habits, usability, motivations for use, and intrinsic motivations for control. These factors were assessed in relation to the behavior of watching videos in shorter and faster formats. The findings showed that that most users watch videos habitually, prefer shorter video lengths, and want to control how and when they watch content. This study expects that OTT services to become more personalized and devices to become even more diverse in the future.

Classification of Technology Patents Using BERT

Woosik Lee | JNCIST 13(2) 277-285

Abstract : Despite the widespread impact on various fields such as finance, insurance, human resource management, accounting, manufacturing, supply chain management, IT management, and customer service due to the advent of Intelligent Process Automation(IPA) combining RPA and artificial intelligence, research on IPA applying deep learning-based natural language processing to technology patent analysis has not sufficiently developed. This study designs a technology patent classification system based on patent data on carbon dioxide capture and utilization, natural language preprocessing techniques, and BERT and BERT-derived models, and compares and analyzes accuracy, kappa coefficient, and F1-score. The main results are summarized as follows: First, among the five CCU technology classifications, the BERT model showed better performance than the ELECTRA model, suggesting that the BERT model's MLM method can understand the overall context information more effectively. Second, in patent summary classification, it showed higher performance than the first claim classification, which is judged because the language models are trained with various types of texts and based on general language use and context, thus more effectively processing patent summaries that summarize the entire patent content. This study presents the potential to significantly impact business strategy development and enhance technological competitiveness as meaningful IPA research applying BERT and BERT-derived models to technology patent classification.
