GENERAL GUIDELINES

This guideline provides a summary of the information necessary for preparing and submitting a manuscript. Authors must carefully read the aims and scope section of this Journal and refer to the complete version of the [Author Guidelines].

1. Contents

The Journal accepts original research and critical review manuscripts in the academic and industrial fields of converged technologies related with Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and other applied fields in arts, humanities, sociology, technical and service-related areas, and other convergence areas to investigate specific methodologies and develop technologies that will contribute to the development of the future industry and economy. An original research article encompasses a comprehensive, detailed, self-contained description of a research effort. A review article is required to provide an updating of any area of technology pertinent to the scope of this journal.

2. Qualification as Authors

Any researcher can submit a manuscript provided that the scope of the manuscript is appropriate . At least one among all authors of each submitted manuscript should be a registered member of the Next-Generation Convergence Information Services Society (NCISS).

3. Manuscript Submission

The manuscript electronic version (MS Word, HWP, or PDF) intended for publication should be written in either English or Korean language and prepared as described in the “Manuscript Preparation”. Authors must use the paper template [TEMPLATE (PDF)] for preparing their manuscripts which is available on JNCIST homepage. All manuscripts should be submitted through the online manuscript submission page. If you have concerns during submission, contact the NCISS office.

4. Manuscript Preparation

The main criteria for manuscript acceptance will be the appropriateness to the scope of the Journal, as described in the JNCIST Aims and Scope, taking into account the merit of the content and presentation. The submitted manuscripts are limited to 14 pages. Manuscripts should be clearly written. Abstracts should be self-contained and informative of what was obtained from the research. Rigorous arguments and presentations are expected throughout.

There is no strict limit on the number of articles that may be submitted by the same author(s). However, it is the journal's policy to provide an opportunity for all interested and quality authors to publish their research results in the journal. Thus, the Editorial Board retains the right to reject submissions of the same author(s) that appear too frequently during the course of the year.

5. Peer-review Process

The implementation of a double-blind peer review is to guarantee that only respectable knowledge is published in the Journal. It is an objective procedure at the core of noble scholarly publication and is carried out by all reputable scientific journals. Submitted manuscripts will be reviewed in the manner customary with scientific journals before being accepted for publication. Upon receiving a manuscript, the Managing Editor and/or the Associate editor will examine whether the manuscript is out of the Journal’s scope or does not meet the basic criteria for a journal article, it will be immediately rejected without further review (please note that this process may take time to complete due to a large number of submissions). Other members of the Editorial Board may be consulted by the Editor when in doubt. Otherwise, the Editor-in-Chief will solicit reviews from three external referees. In this case, both the Authors and Reviewers’ names and affiliations are not disclosed during the review process. Based on the reviews, the Editor will make the decision on manuscript acceptance or solicit additional reviews if the decision is unclear.

The review consists of 6 components: (1) originality, (2) technical soundness, (3) significance, (4) clarity of presentation, including the style and language, (5) relevance to the JNCIST Journal, and (6) length (relative to the useful contents of the paper).
